Description: A fabulous 19th Century giltwood hall or overmantel mirror of grand proportions and of exceptional quality. The bevelled mirror glass plate of rectangular form with shaped top corner returns is set within a finely hand carved, moulded and fluted giltwood frame with gorgeous beaded row, foliate and scroll decorative motif detail throughout. Surmounted with an intricately pierced centred crest composition of an arrangement of stylised shells, ruffles, c and s scrolls flanked with exquisitely detailed richly trailing flowerheads, leaves and scrolling acanthus leaves to each side and to the base, all finely carved in high relief.
