Description Struck between 1197 and 1212 AD under Queen Lilavati of the Kingdom of Polonnaruwa, this copper 1 Massa represents the late medieval coinage of Sri Lanka. Weighing حوالي 4.26 grams and struck using hammered technique, it reflects the regional minting traditions of the period. The obverse depicts a crowned standing king wearing a dhoti, standing on a lotus stalk, holding a flower to the right with a hanging lamp to the left, surrounded by a beaded border. The reverse shows a seated crowned king holding a conch shell, accompanied by Nagari legend to the right, again enclosed within a beaded rim. This coin is appreciated for its symbolic imagery blending royalty and religious elements. It is a desirable piece for collectors of Sri Lankan, medieval, and Indo-religious coinage traditions.
